I can’t believe the amazing condition of this Continental.

Sure it’s FWD, but at least it’s a V8 and probably comfy as hell to ride around in.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Just amazing how nice of an example of a Continental this is.

Best part is you know someone old drove it who probably did not abuse it at all

Where as I’d be roasting the front tires off.

only 2900 bucks, I can’t believe how many cheap examples are available that are in good shape around here.

The color scheme on this one is awful but I’ve seen some black and blue ones around too.

I have no idea what the going rate is on these cars, but $2,900 seems pretty low.

Apparently (from looking around more) it looks to be about the going rate. This just happens to be a great example. And the color combo is horrible so that probably knocked off a couple bucks.

Talk about a highway bomber in disguise though

V8, FWD barges are probably the worst punishment in automotive form.

Here’s your power, that you can’t put on the ground.

Here’s your comfortable soft spring rates, with massive weight on the front but no weight on the back so it feels like it is grinding its nose into the ground, all the time.

Here’s your large size, but none of it contributes to passenger/cargo area and most of it goes toward your hood and front overhang.

It also has to do with perception and this car has a terrible perception

That can have it’s downsides. A (heavy-footed) guy I know bought a car from someone who had babied it every day of its life, when he first got it he couldn’t get it to perform at all. Performance got better and better for a little while as he drove it harder than it had ever seen, then it shat out its rings.

Moral: every car needs an occasional Italian tune up.

Nah, I would daily one of these things.

The 1997 (I believe last mechanical update) went 0-60 in 7.7 with it’s FWD 4.6L V8.

That was only .4 slower than the first Lincoln LS V8 which was smaller and rear wheel drive

And it was faster than the Town Car set up in RWD.

It’s actually a decent option if you just spend a lot of time in the car but aren’t looking for a performance option.

Even claims 25 mpg on the highway

Just because it’s a barely smaller town car in FWD?

As a follow up, 7.7 is still .8 seconds slower than my V6 Milan.

Just saying.

That's an awful speed/mpg ratio.

Huh, I always thought these were RWD.... mind = nearly blown

Also, V8 + FWD. Do you want understeer? Because this is how you get understeer. Source, first car was ‘95 Aurora.

The rear air ride will blow on you 1 week after purchase.

I do love the tail lights on those are, how they’re smoothly sculpted into the contours of the rear.

I currently have a 1997 El Dorado as my second car. I can confirm FWD V8's are fun in their own way.

I’m hoping to get a little more than this ad, considering it only has 45,000 on the odoand it's a Cadillac.

the tail lights are wonderfully sculpted.

And I’m SURE there’s a non-air ride conversion available.

lol, I’m used to torque steer. My 3.0L V6 FWD Mercury Milan accelerates faster than this despite only being a V6.

Kinja'd!!! Pickup_man > MontegoMan562 is a Capri RS Owner

Not torque steer, understeer . My old Aurora couldn’t go around a corner to save it’s life, and if the road got slippery turning was more of a suggestion than a thing that actually happened. Surprisingly I don’t remember that car having much torque steer though.

oh, oh, oh.

Weird. you’d think having weight on the turning wheels would help. I guess not though.

You would think, but it would just plow straight ahead, and without rwd to help push the rear around, even the mere thought of getting on the gas would just make matters worse. Who knows, maybe the Lincoln is better, all I know was that Aurora was an understeering pig. A fast and comfortable pig though.
